A LONG FAMILY HISTORY

OF AN AMERICAN OWNED COMPANY

In 1948 a young man by the name of Luney Gilmore was working in a Montgomery Ward office in Kansas City Missouri, when one evening he stumbled into a fly tying class where his love of building fishing tackle began. After countless hours of trial and error, and a little help from some reading material he became quite good at the fly tying art. Being a business man as he was he decided to start selling his products for a little extra cash on the side. After a few weeks of selling he realized that he had a hot item and when production fell behind the number of orders being receive, he decided to take off a few days at work to catch back up. He approached his bosses and discussed the matter, and after some deliberation and the fact that they weren't being very cooperative he told them to take their factory and do something with it that to most people would be unpleasant. He soon moved back to Arkansas and began to expand his line of products into hard baits. In 1950 He decided to incorporate the company and Gilmore Tackle INC. was born.

In the mid 1980's Luney's son Dennis took over the company and expanded the product offerings and began to incorporate new technologies with the old in order to bring better products to the market. Dennis still owns the company and has two children who are very active within it. It is certain that the company will be handed down and the tradition will be carried on for years to come. The product offerings continue to grow with each passing year and the company is a testament to the thought of the American Dream. Gilmore Tackle Company will continue to produce the types of lures that fisherman have come to expect, and will continue to bring new and better things to the floor to give those fisherman that use them an edge over the competition.
